Black and White Experiment Update

So on Jan 2nd, I wrote about an experiment I was doing with the black and white quilts to see if it was the black and white fabrics or the type of quilt that made the difference in popularity.  Here's what I found.  I made this black and white minky quilt with black minky on the back on Jan. 5th.  I posted a picture of it here and it immediately sold to someone who actually wanted a name embroidered on it.

So I made her another identical quilt with her baby's name on it.

I listed the original quilt in my shop on Jan. 5th and it sold in 18 days - the fastest anything has sold.

So I think the conclusion to the experiment is that black and white is classic no matter how you make it.

I will be making many more of these quilts.  I am working on a full size black and white rag quilt right now and I will be listing this one with white minky tomorrow:

2014 Goals

My Business Goals for 2014

Make at least 50 items for my etsy shop

I have 25 right now.

Once I make the 50,  try to keep it stocked with 50 at all times

I have a feeling this will be the hardest to accomplish

Double my sales of the previous year

My sales for 2013 on etsy were 140, so I need to do 280 by next Dec.

A Black and White Experiment

I have sold over 17 of my black and white rag quilts since I started making them in 2010.  They are by far the most popular item in my shop and I'm not sure why.  I wanted to try an experiment whereby I make the same design and fabric but make a minky quilt to see if it will sell as well.  I want to find out if it's the black and white that's popular or the rag quilt itself in black and white.  I'll get back to you.
